Mrs. Lince

Mrs. Lince serves as counselor in the middle school at Ronald Brown Academy. She was born and raised in Michigan. She earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees at Wayne State University. She has a school counselor license (SCL) as well as a professional counselor license (LPC). This is her 5th year in DPSCD and first year at RBA. Mrs. Lince serves as a member of the Resource Coordinator Team (RCT) and collaborates with the middle school staff to ensure the academic, career, personal, and social needs of the middle school students. In conjunction with the elementary counselor, Mrs Lince brings outreach programs and services to the students, including leadership workshops, family services, and high school.

Mr. Price

Mr. Price serves as the middle school counselor with five years of experience, and serves as a compassionate guide and advocate, helping students navigate the pivotal developmental stage of early adolescence. Growing up in the city of Detroit and as a proud product of Detroit Public Schools, Mr. Price brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by students in urban communities. Drawing on his personal experience and professional expertise, he plays a critical role in fostering academic success, personal growth, and emotional well-being while preparing students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Calm Classroom

Our district has adopted the Calm Classroom program to help cultivate peaceful and engaging environments throughout the district. This program consists of 3-minute daily practices involving breathing, stretching, and relaxation techniques to support the mental and emotional growth of students and teachers. The mission of Calm Classroom is to empower students and educators with mindfulness skills that support their overall emotional wellbeing. The program centers around three key principles.

Self-Awareness

Learn how our thoughts and feelings influence our behavior so we can make conscious choices.

Mental Focus

Learn how to focus our attention and mental thoughts on what is important.

Emotional Resilience

Learn how to manage and self-regulate our feelings in order to stay calm.

We are embracing this new classroom technique into our daily routine at Ronald Brown in hopes to change the culture and climate throughout our school. We are also encouraging our families to use these techniques into your home routines as well. We know if our students are calm and focused academically, we can surely prepare them to be future leaders!

Expect Respect

DPSCD has adopted the Expect Respect initiative as part of our commitment to helping students build positive relationships. The Expect Respect program involves teaching character traits that will promote healthy social interactions with peers and adults. Mrs. Hosey and Mr. Edsel our Guidance Counselors, will lead grade level appropriate lessons for the “Trait of the Month” as well as the PACER National Bullying Prevention curriculum. The program also includes Overcoming Obstacles activities which are designed to help students handle academic, personal and social challenges. Throughout the program, students will be exposed to in-class lessons, school assemblies, speakers and additional activities that will help them build character education skills that will lead to lifelong practices. PBIS

Our goal at Ronald Brown is to implement a program where students can self-manage their behaviors. We want students to sustain and expand the skill they learn in school to life experiences beyond school. By utilizing the PBIS program our goal is to create a learning environment where students are engaged and successful. Through daily interactions students will adhere to classroom and school rules. Their positive behaviors will be rewarded when necessary by classroom teachers and other staff members. The purpose of the rewards are to focus on the positive behaviors as we word to build positive school culture.
